LOTE ... (Languages
other than English)
The Lote Faculty is a small but
dedicated group of teachers who are all very enthusiastic about
languages, foreign countries and cultures.
We aim to broaden the student’s knowledge, views and opinions of other
countries and cultures as well as teach them the specifics of their
chosen language.
The Languages on offer at Grafton High School are Japanese, French and
Indonesian.
At Grafton High School in stage 4 (years 7 & 8), the students are
offered a ‘taster’ of the three languages and they are then given the
opportunity to select the language they will study for their compulsory
language study.
We also have a wonderful and exciting Culture Day associated with their
compulsory year of study. At this day the students participate in
various activities, taste food from the different countries and perform
in a concert.
There is then the opportunity for the students to further their
language studies in stage 5 (years 9 &10) and stage 6 (years 11
& 12) where the students are encouraged and supported to reach
their full potential.
Stage 5 students are also encouraged to participate in the Australian
Language Certificate.
