History ...
Our experienced and dynamic staff
is able to offer Grafton High Students lesson content and associated
activities that will capture their interest and develop a wide range of
skills.
In Years 7-10 students study the mandatory course which takes them, in
Stage 4, from investigating a selection of ancient and medieval
societies to people and events that have shaped our modern world.
In Stage 5, the focus is on Australian History from Federation to the
present. We also offer Work Education as an elective for students who
wish to gain an insight into the world of work.
Enthusiastic and motivated students are encouraged to join the Gold
class. Here teachers are able to provide additional opportunities for
these students to expand their history skills in a student centred
classroom.
Students participate in site studies within the local area and attend
various exhibitions as well as an excursion to Canberra and Sydney in
Year 10. Students are encouraged to enter competitions at local, state
and national level, including the HTA competition.
Subjects within the History Faculty are a popular and rewarding choice
for our senior students. We offer Ancient History, Modern History
and Extension History for the passionate historians. In addition,
we offer Aboriginal Studies, Work Studies and Studies in Today’s
Society. Combined, these subjects cater for a diverse range of
student’s needs and interests.
Our teachers aim at creating an appreciation and love of History. By
focusing on the mysteries, students are given the opportunity to
discover the history.
